Today’s Wordle Hints & AnswerSunday, November 8, 2026 #1968
Not finding today’s Wordle hint? Puzzle #1968 has challenged many this morning. It’s not unfamiliar; it’s just hiding in plain sight. This page updates daily with hints, the confirmed answer, and a difficulty rating, so pick the help where you are stuck.
What Is a Wordle Hint?
A Wordle hint is a small clue that helps you narrow down the answer without giving it away. It might tell you how many vowels the word contains, point to a specific letter, or give you a clue about its meaning, while you still have to make the final guess yourself. Use as many or as few hints as you need, so you can get a little help without losing the challenge of solving the puzzle.
Today's Wordle Hints (Puzzle #1968)
Begin with a small clue and move to stronger hints as needed.
Start with the vowel pattern. Knowing the vowel count trims the list of wrong guesses fast.
The opening letter is a powerful clue. It rules out every guess that starts a different way.
The closing letter narrows the ending. Many answers finish with common suffix patterns.
Most players guess five different letters. If one letter repeats, that habit can cost a turn.
Pair the second letter with the opener, and the shape of the word starts to show.
Letter clues not enough? A hint about the meaning can point your vocabulary straight at it.
Bonus Visual Hint
Spelling hints fall short? This visual clue helps without spelling anything out. Only look at this if the written hints above haven't helped yet.

How Wordle Scores Difficulty
There are two scoring methods in use. The New York Times relies on a small group of early solvers to set its rating. In contrast, WordleBot uses data from the entire player base for that day, covering both normal and hard modes. One method offers a snapshot from a few players, while the other provides a daily average, so they may not always agree.

How to Play Wordle
New to Wordle or just need a quick refresher? Here’s how the game works, all in one place.
- 1
A new word appears at midnight in your local time, and everyone gets the same puzzle that day.
- 2
Enter any valid five-letter word as your first guess and submit it.
- 3
Each letter returns with a color, which gives you your only feedback.
- 4
Use that feedback to adjust your next guess: keep correct letters, move misplaced ones, and remove letters that are not in the word.
- 5
You get six guesses in total before the round ends and the answer is revealed.
- 6
Sharing your result shows a grid of colored squares without the letters, letting others compare results without spoilers.
How Wordle Colors Work
A green tile confirms two things at once: you have the right letter and it is in the right spot. Keep that letter fixed in all later guesses and use the remaining spaces to test letters you have not solved yet.
A yellow tile shows that the letter is part of the answer but is sitting in the wrong position. Keep using the letter, but place it somewhere else in your next guess. When its correct spot is unclear, testing different positions can help you find where it fits.
A gray tile means the letter does not appear in the answer. Remove it from your options and avoid using it again in later guesses, so you can focus on letters that still have a chance of being correct.
Color Blind Support
Wordle’s High Contrast setting changes the usual green and yellow to orange and blue. Gray remains unchanged. The meanings stay the same: orange indicates a correct position, and blue shows a misplaced letter. To enable it, click the gear icon to open Settings. Find the High Contrast Mode toggle and turn it on. The new colors take effect immediately and remain until you switch it off in the same menu.
Best Wordle Starting Words
Your first guess sets the tone for the game, so it’s better to test several common letters at once than to choose randomly.
S, L, A, T, and E include two strong consonants and two common vowels. This balanced choice makes it a safe default when you’re unsure about the puzzle.
ADIEU is unique because it uses four vowels. While it doesn’t reveal much about consonants, it’s great for quickly narrowing down vowel options, especially if the puzzle seems vowel-heavy.
CRANE features C, R, A, N, and E, which are all effective letters. R appears in about a quarter of Wordle answers. and pairing it with a common opening consonant and two vowels makes CRANE one of the more reliable openers.
IRATE follows the vowel-heavy approach like ADIEU but rearranges the letters. It’s a solid second guess if you’ve already used a vowel-rich word and want a fresh perspective.
A favorite among players, STARE tests S, T, A, R, and E, five letters that often rank high in frequency for five-letter English words. It’s easy to remember and justify.
TRACE is similar to CRANE, just swapping the N for a T. T, R, A, and C frequently appear in Wordle solutions, keeping this guess effective.
Wordle Tips and Strategy
- Favor common letters such as E, A, R, S, T, and N, especially in your first two guesses.
- Aim to solve the puzzle in three or four guesses by choosing a strong opener and using each result to guide your next move instead of guessing at random.
- Make every guess count by using it to learn something about the remaining letters.
- Once you’ve found a few letters, look for familiar endings like -ER, -LY, -ED, -AL, and -LE. Patterns such as -IGHT, -ATCH, and -OUND can also help.
- Stuck between two words? Choose the guess that tests more letters you are still unsure about, even if it may not be the answer.
- Letter pairs like ST, TR, and CH can be useful patterns to test when they fit the remaining spaces.
- Avoid repeating the same letters in back-to-back guesses. Try to test new letters whenever possible.
- Use exploratory guesses early while you still have many possible answers. By your fifth or sixth guess, focus on the strongest word that fits your clues.
- Hard Mode can reinforce good guessing habits because you must use confirmed letters in your next guesses.
About Wordle
Software engineer Josh Wardle created Wordle for his partner, who loved word puzzles. The game went public in October 2021 and grew quickly, reaching around two million daily players within a few months. The New York Times acquired it in January 2022 and has kept the game free, later bringing in editor Tracy Bennett to remove obscure or unpleasant words from the answer list.
Its simple format is a big part of the appeal. You solve one word, get six tries, and only play once a day, with no endless feed to scroll through. That simple setup helped Wordle spread quickly, and its popularity even led Google to add a small animation to search results for the word “Wordle.”
